Flaming June?!

So where is the heatwave we’ve been promised?

Everything is lush and green with trees and hedgerows becoming denser by the day, but my pots are sadly lacking in colour at the moment.

But we don’t need sunshine in Abercamlais to fill our days with colour – every morning heralds a new rainbow in my felting barn as I blend batts and vibrant silks to create a patchwork of never-ending colour combinations. Hot summer colours, vibrant jewel colours and paler Liberty print combinations – all are possible.

If you want to try your hand at a winning colour combination then join me for a fabulous felting workshop – days can be arranged to suit us all provided there are at least 2 attendees.

Workshops are ideal when the weather’s not great and for a different summer holiday experience – you’ll keep dry if it’s raining outside, but when warm we can sit and make felt by my river…. And if you’re very lucky you may even see a kingfisher swooping past.

Nestled between the Brecon Beacons and the Cambrian mountains my riverside cottage workshop makes the ideal location for a stress busting weekend, with so many fabulous places to stay and leave the work pressure behind you for a few days. In fact it’s just a short hop over the Beacons from Cardiff – you can be here in an hour. What are you waiting for?!

Are you attending a wedding, christening, or other summer event? My cobweb feltings are the perfect accessory for cool summer evenings and being so lightweight can be doubled up to make a soft winter scarf.

But we don’t want to talk of winter just yet…… there’s so much to look forward to in the coming few months. July sees the growing Tywi Valley Open Studios returning once again - www.tywivalleyopenstudios.wales – programmes are now appearing in outlets from Llandeilo to Llandovery, Lampeter and Ammanford. Pick up yours or look at the on-line brochure. I’ll be holding some ‘taster’ sessions on the Monday and July – book your session now to avoid disappointment.

In August I’ll be exhibiting at Llanwrtyd & District Heritage and Arts Centre - http://history-arts-wales.org.uk/whats-on/

If you’ve already had your summer holiday and thinking of next year already – how about a trip to India? I’ll be organising a tour for a small group to take in the Golden Triangle, block-printing, indigo dying, cooking, rural life and some chill-out time in Kerala. Let me know if you’re interested!

Phew – it’s a busy time! I hope to see you soon! xxx
